Every year I set myself a new challenge. Putting myself in uncomfortable situations has had a massive impact on reducing anxiety, increasing confidence and embracing change.
In 2023 I challenged myself to walk 10,000 steps every day of the year! My feet have never been the same since.
In 2024 I challenged myself to run a 10k race in every location that Directions For Men had a peer support group. I ticked that challenge off and raised £640 for our groups.
2025 was about getting back to the gym, getting stronger and getting back in shape. I lost 2 stone and felt great. What came completely out of the blue in March, was an opportunity to participate in Channel 4s Hunted programme. My mate Ste and I were on the run for 17 out of 21 days. Just short of the extraction day.
This year is my most ambitious challenge yet. I want to run a number of kilometres which matches the week of the year. For example, in week 1 I will run 1k, in week 52 I will run 52k. I want to do these runs all in one go with the aim of running in an ultra marathon in 2027. Keep an eye on my progress.
2026 Running Challenge Lets go!
1k on a cold day. The Start of my 2026 Running Challenge.
Not feeling it today. But turning up for myself is the most important thing. And I did it!
It’s cold and wet so it must be time for a run. Week 3 and 3k in the bag.
